Watch an embryonic goose develop

BBC’s The Trials of Life has fascinating footage of a Russian snow goose developing inside the egg.

Geese really step it up. Two days after conception, the embyonic snow goose’s heart starts beating. Wow. For human beings, our hearts don’t start beating until about 18 days. In twelve days, the goose’s legs are evident. For us, our legs aren’t evident until about 6 weeks.
